The Public Image

This post is kinda special, because this store means a lot to me. A while ago I contacted Nele, baws of The Public Image, to find out if she was interested in lending me some clothing for my shoot with Kalila and Sarah. Nele immediately replied, and said that I was more than welcome..So I went over there, and was shocked at the amazingly cool stuff she had to offer in her store. So we talked for a while, I left with awesome clothing, and my shoots were a huge success. Since then, I've grown to love the store, because they trust me with their stuff, over and over again. Plus their clothing and shoes, are ridiculous. The Public Image is the kinda store, that a city needs. It's more than a store where people come in to buy stuff. Everytime I walk in, people come in and out, friends, creative co-workers, all just to have a chat with Nele, and see what she's up to.  I've done it too, several times. She has this power over people, to make them feel at ease, welcome. She is correct, a hard worker, and very real. Her clothing was featured on SYTYCD, and several shoots and flyers of contestants on the show. She knows the fashion market out there, and she always seems to find the sickest stuff online. It's all about keeping your head in the game. She is in tha game fo sure. Make sure you check this store out, it's located in Antwerp. Brands you can find there are Jeffrey Campbell, Bitching and Junkfood, Melody Ehsani, Ivory Jar, Staff by Maff, UNIF, MinkPink, and many more.

Oh, and they started something new. They now have their own vintage corner. If you have some stuff that you bought, and wanna get rid off. You can take it in. No highstreet brands like H&M or Zara, they have to fit the profile of the store. But I think it's a nice little addition to the store. Vintage is awesome.

So I've been seeing a lot of these above the knuckle rings online lately. It's probably been around for a while but I've just noticed them..and I love it! They are so delicate, subtle but fabulous. You can upgrade ur outfit with some cute gold or silver ones, combine them with a statement ring on the same finger to finish off the look. You can switch it up, wear em on different fingers, or just the one. Whatever you like. Check out the pictures below. If any of you, know a store or person that designs these..please let me know in the comment section below. I would love to get some for my own, and be able to use them for my styling as well. Thanks a lot guys. Talk to you soon.

UnderEmployed

So I'm totally addicted to this new show on MTV called 'UnderEmployed'. It talks about a group of friends, who graduate from college. with huge hopes and expectations, but then enter the real life...and get a reality check. Money, babies, rent, lesbians, sexuality, tough bosses, etcetera. This show is so great, and FUNNY. The situations they get themselves in to are hilarious at times. But also somewhat akward. I've been watching the episodes online for the past 4 hours...and i'm totally hooked. Just saw the part where Sophia tells her parents that she's a lesbian..and they storm out the restaurant. So sad!

But it gives me a reality check as well. This means that life doesn't always turn out like you planned it. They're s a plan for each individual. It's just waiting for the right time for everything to go down as it's supposed to. Falling in love, moving in together, getting your first job, getting fired, quitting your job, not having enough money to pay the rent, asking money from ur parents, all the crappy stuff in life, happen for a reason, but it's also the best feeling ever. Twenties are the best years in somebody's life. You get to choose your destination, by the choices you make. You are in control. And frankly anything is possible. You just have to go out and do it. Sure it's scary, but here's the thing, if it isn't scaring you..it probably isn't a big enough dream. I'm currently living together with my boyfriend, in Antwerp. I'm unemployed for the record, but I'm actually trying really hard to create my destiny, the one I wanted all along. And that is being independent. A business woman, having my own business. My boyfriend pays for most of our costs, and my parents pay my share of the rent. Do I feel good about it? no, I hate it. But it's just something life has got me doing. This is the plan..soon something is gonna happen, and its gonna be just right..and all of this hard work and late nights laying awake in bed, going over everything in my head, is gonna pay off. It really is. It has to.

But great show, definitely an eye opener. Funny, charming, real, especially that, real.

Be sure to check it out.

SKULL

I've been obsessed with skull make up since the lady gaga video 'Born this way'. So I wanted to do a concept similar to that, but without copying the look. So I asked Robby Politi, talented photographer from Genk, Belgium, to help me out. Shana van Schuylenbergh is an awesome make up artist who works for MAC. She is so talented, and is great in the art of grime. I did not want to do a crazy styling on this one, so I ended up just using clothes from my own closet and Robby's, trying to keep it simple, so that the focus would be on the amazing make up. So we teamed up on this one, and the result was stunning. A true team effort. Take a look at the pictures.

Oh' BOY LONDON

This is an awesome brand. I did not know that it has been around this long, it was founded in 1977 by Stephane Raynor. The BOY logo and print is one that's internationally recognized. Everybody from fashionistas, to punks, Andy Warhol to Madonna, has worn BOY. The brand survived this whole time, up until now its been able to keep its position at the cutting edge of a whole new generation.

What I love about this brand, is its simplicity. They don't try to be something they're not, they stick to their game, and it's payed off. Everybody knows the BOY logo, and famous sweaters which everyone drools over.
